NightWatch ®

Description

Crisis Support Services of Alameda County has been providing telephone crisis counseling 24/7 for over 40 years.  Our expertise is in dealing with people in crisis and people suffering from chronic mental illness.  With the advent of sophisticated technology and telephone equipment, it is no longer necessary for a crisis center to be local and be able to provide competent and expedient crisis intervention.

Our NightWatch ® program provides afterhours crisis intervention telephone counseling services to mental health agencies that are required to provide 24/7 services.

Mission

The NightWatch ® program mission is to assist mental health agencies to reduce psychiatric hospitalizations and help support and maintain consumers who wish to live in the community by providing crisis intervention telephone support.

Structure

As part of your mental health agency team, our trained mental health crisis line counselors will answer a designated telephone line which identifies calls from your agency. CSS can integrate your treatment plan for individual clients to ensure continuity of care.  Our crisis line counselors, assess for risk, institute guidelines for self care and/or mobilize your on-call capability for immediate intervention avoiding costly and unnecessary hospitalizations when possible.  As part of your treatment team, we develop a supportive realistic relationship with your clients.  Our counselors will respond to your clients utilizing interventions that support your treatment goals.

Our customized database is state of the art technology designed for after-hour mental health services.  Each business day a report will be faxed to your office detailing all calls. Your agency will also receive a call statistic summary report every month.
