Crisis Support Services (CSS) is a nonprofit agency that provides a variety of mental health services to a wide range of persons in varying degrees of crisis. Our primary mission is to assist people in emotional distress, to offer supportive counseling to those in crisis, and prevent suicide. CSS carries out this mission by offering counseling in a safe environment. CSS offers a variety of groups in our North Oakland office.
Our goal is to provide a safe and confidential place to receive support around loss, coping, and life transitions in a group setting. Our groups provide support, coping strategies, education, and a safe place to process feelings.
CSS strives to maintain a physical environment that is comfortable and inviting and thus promotes healing and wellness. Our entire staff is warm and embracing of all clients, and this projects caring and emotional safety. As a trauma-informed care agency, we are aware that clients coming into the agency for services may have traumatic personal histories. Being mindful of this fact, every effort is made to avoid inadvertent re-traumatization.
The size of each group is limited and pre-registration is required. Your registration will be confirmed by mail, with directions to the meeting location.
Counseling is provided by mental health interns who are trained in geriatric mental health, grief, and crisis intervention counseling and are supervised by licensed mental health professionals.
