Learning that your child is experiencing thoughts of suicide can be very upsetting, and you may have a lot of questions. Join us for a free virtual workshop to answer many of these questions. The goal is to provide caregivers with support and information about how to care for a youth who is experiencing suicidal ideation.
Questions addressed will include:
- How do I make a safety plan and keep my child safe in my home?
- Is psychotropic medication appropriate for my child?
- What are our rights in advocating for my child in the hospital and after being released?
- How do I connect with services?
- How do I manage my own stress while trying to help my child?
Crisis Support Services is Alameda County’s suicide prevention agency and offers a range of outpatient mental health services including the ORCA program, which provides therapy for Alameda County residents 25 and under who are experiencing thoughts of suicide. The workshop will be led by ORCA Clinician, Jennifer Breunig, and Grief and Older Adult Clinician, Mimi Tsang.
