Tending Your Grief Drop-In Grief Group at the Oakland Public Library 81st Ave. Branch
Join us in this compassionate and understanding grief support group designed to provide a safe space for individuals who are grieving any loss. We’ll discuss definitions of grief, describe the process of grief, techniques for moving through it, and how to get support if you find yourself getting stuck. Grief is a normal response to loss, and loss is a natural part of life. Grief is a journey that can be overwhelming and isolating, but you don’t have to navigate it alone.
This drop-in group is free, but donations are welcome.
Registration is not required for this drop-in group and all are welcome for any and all sessions.

General Grief Group
This group is designed to be a space to reduce the isolation of loss, for people to share stories of people they have loved, and to explore how to manage grief. This group is lead by trained facilitators who understand that grief takes time, and each person moves through grief in their own individual process.
Meetings are 2 hours a week for 8 to 10 weeks.
Groups run three times a year, in fall, winter and spring.
Meets in person in our offices in Oakland.

Suicide Loss Grief Group
Bereavement by suicide can be a profoundly challenging experience. This a group designed to support people through the unique experience of losing a loved one to suicide. This group is facilitated by trained professionals, with a focus on connecting to others who have survived a similar loss. Attendees to this group will explore together the range of emotional responses that come from this grief.
Meetings are 2 hours a week for 8 to 10 weeks.
Groups run three times a year, in fall, winter and spring.

Survivors of Suicide Attempt (SOSA)
Survivor of Suicide Attempt therapy groups provide therapy for individuals over 18 years old who have made a suicide attempt. This group offers adults a safe, confidential supportive environment to explore strengths and coping skills and receive support.
Meetings are 1.5 hours a week for 8 weeks.
Groups run three to four times a year, in fall, winter, spring and possibly summer.
Meets in person in our offices in Oakland.

Mental Health Providers as Grief Survivors
This free peer-support drop-in group meets virtually on the third Thursday of the month and is for mental health care providers to explore the impact of loss on professional and personal identities.
Community Grief Support Events
These one-time group meetings are available upon request to share dedicated space together to acknowledge loss and process grief of a sudden death of a community member. Clinicians will meet community members at their place of business or residence within Alameda county for 1-2 hours.
Fees
Services are offered on a sliding scale, and the average contribution for group is $10 per session. No one is turned away for an inability to pay. All contributions help CSS continue to serve the community.
