Services We Offer

Therapy for Older Adults
We provide sliding scale, culturally responsive therapy for Alameda County residents 65 and older in our offices and via telehealth. In-home services are offered for those with identified physical limitations.

Grief Therapy
We provide sliding fee grief therapy to individuals of all ages, couples, and families in Alameda County who are affected by the loss of a significant person through death. Our services address the unique experiences of grief, with a focus on traumatic bereavement.

School-Based Counseling
We provide individual and group counseling to students (elementary school through high school) on-site at Alameda County Public Schools. Our counselors play an important role in providing assessment, referrals, and ongoing supportive counseling to youth and their families.
Organizing and Responding to Crisis for Alameda Youth (ORCA) Program
ORCA is a free, suicide-focused, short term, individual therapy service for Alameda County youth 25 years and under who are experiencing thoughts and motivations to suicide.
Our ORCA clinicians collaborate with caregivers and other important people in the client’s life with the goal of increasing safety and avoiding hospitalization. We can meet you where you are—in your home, at school, at a local park, or online.

Group Therapy
We offer suicide and loss therapy groups at low cost to the community.

Downtown Oakland Senior Center is located at 200 Grand Ave in Oakland, 94610.
Registration is not required for this drop-in group but it is suggested to call the Downtown Oakland Senior Center before going at (510) 238-3284.
All are welcome for any and all sessions on Thursdays 11:30am to 1pm. -
This 8-week, closed group is designed to be a space to reduce the isolation of loss, for people to share stories of people they have loved, and to explore how to manage grief. This group is lead by trained facilitators who understand that grief takes time, and each person moves through grief in their own individual process. This group meets in person in our offices in North Oakland.
Winter session: Wednesdays, January 14 - March 4, 2026, 6-8pm. Registration opens January 2.Spring session: Thursdays, April 16 to June 4, 2026, 6-8pm. Registration opens April 4.

Bereavement by suicide can be a profoundly isolating experience. This 8-week closed group is designed to support people through the unique experience of losing a loved one to suicide. This group is facilitated by trained professionals, with a focus on connecting to others who have survived a similar loss. This group meets in person in our offices in North Oakland.
Winter session: Thursdays, January 15 to March 5, 2026, 6-8pm. Registration opens January 2.
Spring session: Tuesdays, April 14 to June 2, 2026, 6-8pm. Registration opens April 1.

This drop-in group offers continued grief support and community for participants who have completed our 8-week Suicide Loss Grief Group.

Strength in the Storm: Caring for a youth with suicidal ideation can be isolating and stressful. This 8-week closed group is designed to offer a nonjudgmental space for caregivers to talk openly about the challenges of caring for a loved one with suicidal ideation and to find support. We will also run a concurrent art therapy group for children ages 5+ whose caregivers are attending the group. This group meets in person in our offices in North Oakland.

This free peer-support drop-in group is for mental health care providers to explore the impact of the death of a client on professional and personal identities.

These one-time group meetings are available upon request by schools or community organizations to process the grief of a sudden death of a community member. Events are 1-2 hours and are offered in exchange for a $200 honorarium.
