Support Groups

Description

Crisis Support Services (CSS) is a nonprofit agency that provides a variety of mental health services to a wide range of persons in varying degrees of crisis. Our primary mission is to assist people in emotional distress, to offer supportive counseling to those in crisis and to prevent suicide. CSS carries out this mission by offering counseling in a safe enviroment, whether it be on the 24-hour tool-free crisis line, in face-to-face counseling for at risk populations or as part of the community education program designed to prevent suicide. CSS offers a variety of support groups in our North Oakland office. Visit our descriptions of available groups.

Mission

The goal is to provide a safe and confidential place to receive support around loss, coping and life transitions in a group setting. Our groups provide support, coping strategies, education and a safe outlet.

Structure

The size of each group is limited and pre-registration is required. Your registration will be confirmed by mail, with directions to the meeting location.

Counseling is provided by mental health interns who are trained in gerontogy, grief, and crisis intervention counseling and are supervised by licensed professionals.

Whom We Serve

Alameda County residents.

Fees

Support groups have a sliding-scale fee but no one is refused services for inability to pay.
