We’ve gone all Virtual on the 10th Annual Healing Hearts 5K Walk/Run for Suicide Prevention from May 9th through May 16th!
Hope this message finds you and loved ones well. We want to express our gratitude for your continued support of Crisis Support Services of Alameda County and the work we do. In these unprecedented times, we have increased our capacity to respond to callers on our crisis line as they experience further isolation and stress. Our counseling and educational services have adapted and are providing their services through remote means, and we are ramping up to do even more by providing mental health services, care, and emotional support to our most vulnerable neighbors.
With the safety and health of our supporters like you in mind, we have made the decision to change our 10th Annual Healing Hearts 5K Walk/Run for Suicide Prevention to a virtual one.
What does this mean? Each participant would complete a 5K (3.1 mile) course of their own design over a one-week period from May 9th to May 16th. They can upload photos to the race website or post the photos showing their progress to #healinghearts5K. The website will also record finish times.
Why is this important? Given this unprecedented time, where more people are feeling isolated, it’s important that we find ways to connect to and support each other…and stay active. We would love to see as many people as possible join our community to support our cause and each other!
How will registration work? We will automatically switch all current Walk/Run registrants to the new Virtual Walk/Run; there is nothing for the participant to do but start thinking about where your new course will be (and wher ever it is, please follow the 6-foot social distancing guidelines!) If anyone requires a refund for the event, we will be happy to make refunds available before May 16, 2020.
Also, please take this opportunity to invite your friends! Consider starting a virtual team! We are adjusting the fees for new participants to a “pay what you can” model with a suggested donation of $30 — but we welcome any amount and are most excited about you getting your friends and family involved!
If you need any technical help or support, reach out to us at email@example.com. (We can help you set up a lovely team page on www.RunSignUp.com.)
Thanks again for supporting Crisis Support Services of Alameda County and we look forward to connecting with you again in May
