From all of us at Crisis Support Services of Alameda County, may your new year be filled with joy, warmth, and uplifting moments for you, your family, and your community.
Throughout the past year, we`ve shared glimpses of our journey through videos featuring our dedicated staff, volunteers, and community members. Themes like "Hope in Every Conversation," "Lighting the Path through Recovery," and "Messages of Strength and Resilience" have illuminated the impactful work we do.
For over 55 years, we`ve stood by our community, providing support and compassion. As we enter the new year, your donation today can help us sustain our essential programs and explore innovative ways to connect with and serve our community.
Let`s continue this journey together! Click the link in our bio to make a difference today. 💙

We want to pass along an opportunity to participate in the Mental Health Services Act Planning Process! The public is invited to give feedback and suggestions on how the MHSA funding should be spent for their local community. This is an opportunity for you, your family, and your peers to inform what programs and services may become available in Alameda County.
Please forward this information to staff, clients, and community members. Here is a link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2ZXL6V6 (Link also in bio)
Our Grief Therapy Services provide both individual and group therapy. Learn more about our support groups below.
Our groups are eight weeks long and offered 3x a year during Fall, Winter, and Spring. Dates and times vary, and no one is turned away for lack of funds. We provide several different types of support groups - learn more below!
General Bereavement Our general bereavement group is eight weeks long and offered three times per year. This is a group for individuals who have experienced the death of a loved one. Two trained interns facilitate this group. This is a closed group, meaning new members will not be accepted once the group begins.
Suicide Bereavement Our suicide bereavement group is intended for individuals who have lost loved ones due to suicide. The group`s purpose is to address unique experiences of loss and reduce incidents of stigma. This group is curriculum-based, eight weeks long, and is closed after the first two sessions.
Mental Health Providers as Grief Survivors This group began in 2021 to address the needs of providers experiencing loss. This is a group for any mental health provider-therapist, case manager, or shelter worker who experienced the death of a client. Our hope for this group is to offer a place for providers to address the unique experience of client loss. This group is offered monthly and on a drop-in basis.
Community Bereavement Support We also offer one-time bereavement support to agencies or groups who have experienced a loss. These groups are facilitated by staff or clinical interns to support people expressing feelings related to loss and explore the impact of the loss on the group. Community bereavement support groups can be provided virtually or on-site.

The Crisis Support Services Clinical Department marked the solstice with a sea of joy at Trader Vic`s, diving into a Lost At Sea-themed party! 🌊 Each team member received a fantastic souvenir from our incredible community partner, PlanterDay. These vibrant t-shirts and tote bags showcase the beauty of a small, Oakland-based store and contribute to a cause we hold dear – all proceeds benefit CSS.
In the heart of a thriving year, we`re immensely proud of the impactful work our department has accomplished. As we continue to expand and grow, we`re thrilled to collaborate with @planter.day, a mission-based organization sharing our dedication to making a positive difference.
Join us in celebrating community, growth, and meaningful partnerships! 🌱
